Why so much hate?
Over the last few weeks our community has been shaken by the passing of a child due to suicide. Yes, suicide. This beautiful little angel endured bullying at the age of 10. Just hurts my entire soul knowing that a child so young can understand suicide. Also, for other children around the same age to understand what it means to bully someone else. I’ve spoken to all my grands in the past about bullying and revisited the topic to keep them all on guard. At one point, I forgot that I was talking with them and began fussing, so I reeled it in pretty quickly.
We all are different in so many ways and those difference set us apart. We are unique. There’s NO ONE like you! Even twins have some small degree of a difference between them. So, why would someone ‘hate on’ or ‘bully’ someone else because of being different? Well, let me hit it home just a little bit harder, monkey see - monkey do. As sad as it is to say it, all of this bullying is learned behavior. Why so much hate?
As a young kid, it didn’t matter what we looked like, we just played and played hard. We went to school, church and home. Those were the playgrounds and meeting grounds. Other kids looked like me, not caring what others would be wearing, eating or living conditions. Every family was making it day to day without judgement of one another.
This cycle of hate has to end! Children learn from what they see and hear. As a nurse, my eyes and ears were shocked after learning of the horror stories of abuse children as young as two had to deal with. A combination of mental, physical and sexual. Some of the abuse happened at the hands of other children. So, once again, learned behavior! WE have to break this cycle. Our kids are our future.
As a family has to continue through these next steps of life without the laughter of a little one, prayers never cease for healing. As siblings long for one of their own to never physically reappear, prayers for strength. As a community struggles with bullying and combating suicidal thoughts from children, prayers for guidance.
God’s love is unconditional and undying. So, how can we say we love God yet hate others?
