Inventory
Have you ever had the task of filing a homeowners insurance claim due to a loss of personal items in the home? If not, it requires the homeowner to create a detailed list of items lost due to a covered loss in the home. Some examples of a loss could be from a fire, flood or theft. This process takes time and requires the owner to remember as much detail about items as best as possible. Have you ever had to work at a facility where it’s required to do a scheduled inventory of the company’s resources used on a day-to-day basis? Being able to keep an account for every item helps to maintain cost efficiency. How well do you like Spring cleaning or going through your closet to downsize? Literally, purging items you no longer need.
Now, have you ever taken a personal inventory of self? Oh my, didn’t see that question coming? Personal inventory of self? This one is a bit harder or at least for me it is. I’ve always prayed for eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart of understanding because strength is needed for progression. Get in a place all by yourself where it’s peaceful, sit in silence and begin to list what you see and don’t see. Be honest.
The reality of valuing your personal inventory is precious. It’s something we should be doing on a daily basis even if it seems difficult. No one can tell you how to manage your personal inventory it’s yours! Key word - personal. Protect it! Here’s something else to ponder about our personal inventory, are you able to manage it? Takes daily discipline, honesty, vulnerability, self-awareness and patience. This is definitely a constant struggle for me because discipline and patience are two areas I fight against with every minute. My facial expressions will usually give an indication of what I’m thinking.
So, as I continue seeking what God has for me day in and day out, will also be seeking out to manage my personal inventory. I pray the same for you.
